Sheer Khurma
Sheer Khurma is a rich and aromatic Indian dessert made with vermicelli, milk, dates, and assorted nuts. Traditionally prepared during Eid and festive occasions, this creamy, sweet pudding is flavored with cardamom and garnished with golden raisins and almonds. It’s a comforting dessert that blends the sweetness of dates with the richness of milk and ghee.
Cooking Method
- Heat 2 tbsp ghee in a pan and lightly roast the vermicelli until golden brown.
- In a saucepan, boil milk on medium heat.
- Add roasted vermicelli to the milk and cook until soft, stirring occasionally.
- Chop dates, almonds, cashews, and pistachios; set aside.
- Add sugar and cardamom powder to the milk and stir well.
- Mix in chopped dates and half of the nuts; cook for 5–7 minutes until the mixture thickens slightly.
- Turn off heat and garnish with remaining nuts and golden raisins.
- Serve warm or chilled.
