Known for its tangy-sweet flavor and natural cooling properties, this traditional beverage helps beat the heat, supports digestion, and keeps the body hydrated. It is easy to prepare and serves as a healthy alternative to sugary soft drinks. 

Cooking Method

 

  1. Soak Kokum: Wash dried kokum petals and soak them in warm water for 30–40 minutes until soft.
  2. Extract Flavor: Mash the soaked kokum gently to release its deep color and tangy flavor.
  3. Strain Liquid: Strain the mixture using a sieve, pressing well to extract all the juice.
  4. Add Sweetener: Mix in sugar or jaggery and stir until completely dissolved.
  5. Season: Add roasted cumin powder, black salt, and a pinch of regular salt for balance.
  6. Dilute & Chill: Add cold water as needed and refrigerate for 1–2 hours.
  7. Serve: Pour into glasses, add ice cubes, and garnish with mint leaves before serving.
