Kokum Sharbat is a refreshing and cooling summer drink made from dried kokum fruit, popular in coastal regions of India. Known for its tangy-sweet flavor and natural cooling properties, this traditional beverage helps beat the heat, supports digestion, and keeps the body hydrated. Cooking Method
- Soak Kokum: Wash dried kokum petals and soak them in warm water for 30–40 minutes until soft.
- Extract Flavor: Mash the soaked kokum gently to release its deep color and tangy flavor.
- Strain Liquid: Strain the mixture using a sieve, pressing well to extract all the juice.
- Add Sweetener: Mix in sugar or jaggery and stir until completely dissolved.
- Season: Add roasted cumin powder, black salt, and a pinch of regular salt for balance.
- Dilute & Chill: Add cold water as needed and refrigerate for 1–2 hours.
- Serve: Pour into glasses, add ice cubes, and garnish with mint leaves before serving.
