Moong Dal Samosa
Moong Dal Samosa is a crunchy and traditional Indian snack filled with a spiced mixture of soaked and coarsely ground moong dal. Known for its rich texture and authentic taste, this samosa is especially popular during festivals and tea-time gatherings.
Cooking Method
- Prepare Dough: Mix all-purpose flour with salt and a little oil. Add water gradually and knead into a stiff dough. Let it rest for 20–30 minutes.
- Prepare Filling: Soak moong dal for 3–4 hours, then drain and coarsely grind it (without water).
- Cook Filling: Heat oil in a pan, add the ground moong dal, salt, and spices. Cook on low flame, stirring continuously until the mixture becomes dry and crumbly. Let it cool completely.
- Shape Samosas: Divide dough into small balls, roll into oval shapes, cut in half, form cones, and fill with dal mixture. Seal edges with water.
- Frying: Heat oil on low-medium flame and fry until golden brown and crispy for extra crunch.
- Serve: Serve hot with tamarind chutney or green chutney.
