Cooking Method
Wash the maize, beans, cowpeas, and peanuts thoroughly.
Soak the maize and beans overnight in plenty of water for faster cooking.
Drain and rinse the soaked ingredients.
Place the maize, beans, cowpeas, and peanuts into a large cooking pot.
Add the water and bring to a boil over high heat.
Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 2–3 hours, stirring occasionally.
Add more hot water if necessary during cooking.
Once all the ingredients are tender, stir in the salt.
Add vegetable oil or butter if desired for extra richness.
Cook for another 5 minutes, then remove from the heat.
