Classic Aloo (Potato) Singara – Bangladeshi Style
Classic Aloo Singara is a traditional Bangladeshi snack made with a crispy, flaky pastry filled with spiced mashed potatoes. Step 1: Prepare Dough
- Mix flour with a pinch of salt and 1 tbsp oil.
- Add water gradually and knead into a firm dough.
- Cover and let it rest for 20 minutes.
Step 2: Prepare Aloo Filling
- Heat oil in a pan.
- Add chopped onions and sauté until soft.
- Add ginger paste and cook for a minute.
- Add green peas and cook for 2–3 minutes.
- Add mashed potatoes, green chilies, garam masala, and salt.
- Mix well and cook for a few minutes until flavors combine.
- Let the mixture cool.
Step 3: Shape Singara
- Divide dough into small balls and roll into thin circles.
- Cut into halves and form cone shapes.
- Fill with potato mixture and seal edges with water.
Step 4: Fry Singara
- Heat oil on medium-low flame.
- Deep fry until crispy and golden brown.
Step 5: Serve
- Serve hot with tamarind chutney or mint chutney.
