United Kingdom English Breakfast Recipe | Classic Full English Breakfast
The Full English Breakfast is a classic British breakfast featuring a hearty combination of eggs, sausages, bacon, baked beans, grilled tomatoes, mushrooms, and toast. Traditionally served hot and generously portioned, this iconic breakfast is enjoyed across the United Kingdom in homes, cafés, and traditional pubs. Each component is cooked separately before being arranged together on a plate, creating a satisfying combination of savory, smoky, creamy, and crisp textures. Perfect for a leisurely weekend breakfast or brunch, a Full English Breakfast is a comforting taste of British food culture.
Cooking Method
- Heat a large skillet or frying pan over medium heat. Cook the sausages for 12–15 minutes, turning regularly until browned and cooked through.
- Cook the bacon in the same pan for 4–6 minutes, until browned and cooked to your preferred level of crispness.
- Meanwhile, warm the baked beans in a small saucepan over low heat, stirring occasionally. Do not boil.
- Add the sliced mushrooms to a clean section of the pan with a little butter or oil. Cook for 5–7 minutes until tender and lightly browned. Season with salt and black pepper.
- Place the halved tomatoes cut-side down in the pan and cook for 3–4 minutes until lightly charred and softened.
- Toast the bread until golden. Spread with butter.
- Fry the eggs in a lightly greased pan until the whites are set and the yolks remain slightly runny, or cook to your preferred doneness.
- If using black pudding or hash browns, cook them according to their package instructions until browned and heated through.
- Divide the sausages, bacon, eggs, baked beans, mushrooms, tomatoes, and toast among four plates.
- Serve immediately with brown sauce or tomato ketchup if desired.
