Fish Singara (Machh Singara)

Fish Singara, also known as Machh Singara, is a unique and flavorful Bangladeshi snack made with crispy pastry filled with spiced fish mixture. Unlike traditional meat samosas, this version uses soft, flaky fish combined with aromatic spices, creating a light yet delicious filling. It’s a popular choice for tea-time snacks and special occasions, especially among seafood lovers.

Step 1: Prepare Dough
 

  •  Mix flour with a pinch of salt and a little oil. 
  •  Add water and knead into a smooth dough. 
  •  Cover and let it rest for 20 minutes. 


Step 2: Prepare Fish Filling
 

  •  Heat oil in a pan. 
  •  Add chopped onions and sauté until soft and golden. 
  •  Add ginger-garlic paste and cook for a minute. 
  •  Add mashed fish and mix well. 
  •  Add green chilies, garam masala, and salt. 
  •  Cook for 4–5 minutes until mixture is dry and flavorful. 
  •  Let it cool completely. 


Step 3: Shape Singara
 

  •  Divide dough into small portions and roll into thin circles. 
  •  Cut each into halves. 
  •  Make cone shapes and fill with fish mixture. 
  •  Seal edges using water. 


Step 4: Fry Singara
 

  •  Heat oil on medium flame. 
  •  Deep fry until crispy and golden brown. 


Step 5: Serve
 

  •  Serve hot with mint chutney or tomato ketchup.
