Sweet Pongal, also known as Sakkarai Pongal, is a traditional South Indian dessert made with rice, moong dal, jaggery, milk, and ghee. It is rich, aromatic, and especially popular during Pongal and other festive celebrations.
Cooking Method
Lightly roast the rice and moong dal together.
Cook them with milk and water until soft and creamy.
Melt the jaggery with a little water and strain to remove impurities.
Add the jaggery syrup to the cooked rice and dal mixture.
Stir in ghee and cardamom powder and cook until well combined.
Fry cashews and raisins in ghee and add them to the Pongal.
