Mysore Pak
Mysore Pak is a famous South Indian sweet known for its rich, buttery flavor and soft, melt-in-the-mouth texture. Originating from the royal kitchens of Mysore, this delicacy is made using gram flour, sugar, and a generous amount of ghee. It has a slightly crumbly texture and a golden color, making it a popular choice during festivals and special occasions.
Cooking Method
- Heat ghee in a pan and keep it warm on low flame.
- In another pan, prepare sugar syrup by boiling sugar and water until it reaches one-string consistency.
- Gradually add gram flour (besan) to the syrup while stirring continuously to avoid lumps.
- Slowly pour hot ghee into the mixture while stirring constantly.
- Continue cooking until the mixture thickens and starts leaving the sides of the pan.
- The mixture will become porous and release ghee.
- Pour it immediately into a greased tray.
- Let it cool slightly, then cut into pieces and allow it to set.
