In a bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it rest for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
Add flour, salt, and melted butter. Mix until a soft dough forms.
Knead the dough for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1–2 hours until doubled in size.
Roll the dough out to about 1.5 cm thickness on a lightly floured surface.
Cut the dough into round shapes using a cookie cutter or glass.
Sprinkle a griddle or pan with cornmeal and place the muffins on it.
Cover and let them rest for 20–30 minutes.
Cook the muffins on a low to medium heat griddle for 5–7 minutes on each side until golden brown.
Allow them to cool slightly, then split and serve with butter, jam, or your favorite toppings.
