Potato Smileys | Crispy Homemade Smiley Face Potato Snacks
Potato Smileys are fun, crispy, and kid-friendly potato snacks made from mashed potatoes, cheese, flour, and simple seasonings. Shaped into cheerful smiley faces and fried or baked until golden, these homemade potato bites are crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy inside.

Cooking Method
- Boil the potatoes until completely tender.
- Drain well and allow them to cool.
- Mash the potatoes until very smooth.
- Add the breadcrumbs, cornstarch, shredded cheese, salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and flour.
- Mix until a firm dough-like mixture forms.
- Place the mixture between two sheets of parchment paper.
- Roll it out to approximately ½ inch thick.
- Use a round cookie cutter or small glass to cut out circles.
- Carefully remove the excess dough and reshape it as needed.
- Use a straw or small round tool to make two eyes in each circle.
- Use a spoon or small curved tool to create a smile-shaped mouth.
- Place the Potato Smileys on a parchment-lined tray.
- Refrigerate for 20–30 minutes to firm them up.
Frying Method
- Heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the Potato Smileys in small batches for 2–3 minutes per side, until golden and crispy.
- Remove and drain on paper towels.
Baking Method
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Arrange the Smileys on a lightly greased baking sheet.
- Brush or spray lightly with oil.
- Bake for 18–22 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crisp.
- Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.
