Authentic Filipino Calamansi Garlic Chicken Marinade Recipe | Easy Citrus Garlic Marinade

0 likes 0 reviews 27 views

Filipino Calamansi Garlic Chicken Marinade is a flavorful blend of fresh calamansi juice, garlic, soy sauce, and aromatic seasonings that transforms ordinary chicken into a juicy, tender, and delicious meal. Calamansi, a small citrus fruit widely used in Filipino cuisine, gives the marinade its signature bright, tangy flavor while garlic and soy sauce add rich savory depth. Perfect for grilling, baking, air frying, or pan-searing, this versatile marinade is commonly used for family barbecues, festive gatherings, and everyday meals. The result is tender, flavorful chicken with a perfect balance of citrus, garlic, and umami.

Cooking Method

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the calamansi juice, soy sauce, garlic, brown sugar, black pepper, paprika, vegetable oil, and salt.
  2. Add the chicken and coat each piece thoroughly with the marinade.
  3. Cover and refrigerate for 2–8 hours, turning the chicken halfway through if possible.
  4. Remove the chicken from the refrigerator about 20 minutes before cooking.
  5. Grill over medium heat, bake at 400°F (200°C), air fry, or pan-sear until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  6. During the final few minutes of cooking, brush the chicken with reserved boiled marinade for extra flavor (only if the marinade has been boiled first).
  7. Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before serving.
  8. Garnish with chopped green onions and calamansi wedges.
  9. Serve with steamed rice, grilled vegetables, or a fresh salad.
  10. Enjoy immediately while hot.
