Lemon Chicken is a popular Chinese-inspired dish featuring crispy golden chicken coated in a smooth, tangy lemon sauce. Made with fresh lemon juice, garlic, soy sauce, and a touch of sweetness, this dish delivers the perfect balance of citrusy freshness and savory flavor. 

Chinese Lemon Chicken is a favorite in many Chinese restaurants and is easy to recreate at home. Cooking Method


  1.  In a bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, salt, and black pepper. 
  2.  Dip the chicken pieces into the beaten eggs, then coat thoroughly with the flour mixture. 
  3.  Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan to 175°C (350°F). 
  4.  Fry the chicken in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 5–6 minutes. 
  5.  Remove and drain on paper towels. 
  6.  In a saucepan, combine the lemon juice, lemon zest, soy sauce, sugar, honey, garlic, ginger, sesame oil, and chicken stock. 
  7.  Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium heat. 
  8.  Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook until the sauce becomes smooth and slightly thickened. 
  9.  Add the crispy chicken to the sauce and toss until evenly coated. 
  10.  Garnish with lemon slices, spring onions, and sesame seeds. 
  11.  Serve immediately with steamed rice or noodles.
