Cooking Method


  1. Brew the black tea by steeping the tea bags in boiling water for 5 minutes. Remove the tea bags and allow the tea to cool completely.
  2. Cook the tapioca pearls according to the package instructions and coat them with the brown sugar syrup.
  3. In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream until warm but not boiling. Pour it over the chopped dark chocolate and let it sit for 1 minute. Add the butter and stir until smooth and glossy. Mix in the cocoa powder if using.
  4. In a pitcher, combine the cooled black tea, whole milk, and sweetened condensed milk. Stir well until smooth.
  5. Drizzle some of the warm chocolate lava sauce around the inside of two serving glasses.
  6. Add the brown sugar-coated tapioca pearls and ice cubes to each glass.
  7. Pour the milk tea into the glasses.
  8. Spoon the remaining warm chocolate lava sauce into the center of each drink to create a rich molten effect.
  9. Top with whipped cream, drizzle with chocolate syrup, and garnish with chocolate curls or mini chocolate chips.
  10. Serve immediately with a wide bubble tea straw and stir gently before enjoying.
