Bolinhos de Peixe are delicious golden fish fritters popular throughout Angola. Influenced by Portuguese culinary traditions, these savory bites are made with flaked fish, potatoes, herbs, and seasonings, then fried until crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. 

Bolinhos de Peixe are commonly served as appetizers, snacks, or side dishes during family gatherings, celebrations, and festive occasions. Their crunchy texture and flavorful fish filling make them a favorite among both children and adults. 

Easy to prepare and packed with protein, these traditional Angolan fish fritters are perfect for serving with salads, dipping sauces, or as part of a larger meal. 

Cooking Method


  1.  Boil the potatoes until tender, then drain and mash them. 
  2.  Cook the fish in lightly salted water for 8–10 minutes until fully cooked. 
  3.  Drain the fish and flake it into small pieces. 
  4.  In a large bowl, combine the mashed potatoes and flaked fish. 
  5.  Add the onion, garlic, parsley, salt, black pepper, and paprika. 
  6.  Mix well until evenly combined. 
  7.  Beat the eggs and stir them into the mixture. 
  8.  Form the mixture into small balls or oval-shaped fritters. 
  9.  Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan over medium-high heat. 
  10.  Fry the fritters in batches until golden brown and crispy. 
  11.  Remove and drain on paper towels. 
  12.  Serve hot with lemon wedges or your favorite dipping sauce.
