Pumpkin Mash is often served alongside grilled meats, stews, vegetables, or traditional staples such as pap and Nshima. Its smooth texture and vibrant color make it a comforting addition to family meals and festive gatherings.

Cooking Method


  1.  Peel the pumpkin and cut it into medium-sized cubes. 
  2.  Place the pumpkin in a large pot and cover with water. 
  3.  Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. 
  4.  Cook for 15–20 minutes or until the pumpkin is very tender. 
  5.  Drain the water completely. 
  6.  Return the pumpkin to the pot. 
  7.  Add the butter, milk, salt, and black pepper. 
  8.  Mash the pumpkin until smooth and creamy. 
  9.  Stir in brown sugar or honey if a sweeter flavor is desired. 
  10.  Adjust seasoning to taste. 
  11.  Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
