The crispy chicken pieces are coated in a sticky sesame glaze that pairs beautifully with steamed rice, fried rice, or noodles. Whether you're preparing a weeknight dinner or a special meal, this homemade Chinese classic is guaranteed to impress. 

Cooking Method


  1.  In a bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, salt, and black pepper. 
  2.  Dip the chicken pieces into the beaten eggs, then coat evenly with the flour mixture. 
  3.  Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan to 175°C (350°F)
  4.  Fry the chicken in batches for 5–6 minutes until crispy and golden brown. Drain on paper towels. 
  5.  In a saucepan, combine the soy sauce, honey, brown sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and chicken stock. 
  6.  Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium heat. 
  7.  Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook until the sauce thickens into a glossy glaze. 
  8.  Add the fried chicken and toss until each piece is evenly coated. 
  9.  Sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds and sliced spring onions. 
  10.  Serve immediately with steamed rice, fried rice, or noodles.
