Cham Cham
Cham Cham is a popular Bengali sweet made from soft paneer (chenna), known for its juicy texture and delicate sweetness. This oval-shaped dessert is soaked in sugar syrup and often garnished with coconut flakes or stuffed with flavored cream (malai). With its vibrant colors and rich taste, Cham Cham is a festive favorite and a delightful treat for special occasions.
Cooking Method
- Boil milk and add lemon juice to curdle it, forming chenna (paneer).
- Strain and wash the chenna with cold water, then squeeze out excess water.
- Knead the chenna until smooth and soft.
- Shape into oval or cylindrical pieces.
- Prepare sugar syrup by boiling sugar and water.
- Add the chenna pieces to the syrup and cook for 10–15 minutes until they expand and become spongy.
- Remove and allow them to cool.
- Garnish with grated coconut or stuff with malai before serving.
