Water Kefir
Water Kefir is a light, refreshing fermented beverage made with water, sugar, and water kefir grains. Unlike traditional milk kefir, this dairy-free probiotic drink is naturally fizzy and has a mildly sweet, tangy flavor. Rich in beneficial bacteria and yeast, Water Kefir supports digestive health and serves as a healthy alternative to sugary soft drinks.
Cooking Method
Step 1: Prepare the Sugar Water
- Dissolve the sugar in warm filtered water.
- Allow the mixture to cool to room temperature.
Step 2: Add Ingredients
- Pour the sugar water into a clean glass jar.
- Add the water kefir grains, raisins, dried fig, and lemon juice.
Step 3: Ferment
- Cover the jar with a breathable cloth and secure it with a rubber band.
- Leave at room temperature for 24–48 hours.
Step 4: Strain
- Strain the liquid through a plastic sieve to remove the kefir grains.
- Save the grains for your next batch.
Step 5: Second Fermentation (Optional)
- Transfer the liquid to airtight bottles.
- Add fresh fruit slices for additional flavor.
- Leave at room temperature for 1–2 days to develop natural carbonation.
Step 6: Refrigerate
- Refrigerate the bottles once the desired fizz level is reached.
Step 7: Serve
- Serve chilled and enjoy the refreshing probiotic beverage.
