Aromatic Camel Meat Tagine Recipe | Slow Cooked Spiced Stew

Camel Meat Tagine is usually served hot with bread or rice. The thick and flavorful sauce pairs perfectly with these sides, making it a satisfying meal for lunch or dinner. 

Although traditionally cooked in a tagine pot, this dish can also be prepared in a regular pot at home. Slow cooking is the key to achieving tender meat and a rich, aromatic sauce.

Cooking Method


  1.  Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat. 
  2.  Add chopped onions and cook until soft. 
  3.  Add garlic and ginger paste, then sauté until fragrant. 
  4.  Add camel meat and cook until lightly browned. 
  5.  Add chopped tomatoes and cook until soft. 
  6.  Add cumin, coriander, turmeric, cinnamon, black pepper, and salt. 
  7.  Mix well and cook the spices for a few minutes. 
  8.  Pour in water or broth and bring to a boil. 
  9.  Reduce heat and let it simmer for about 45–60 minutes until the meat becomes tender. 
  10.  Add carrots and dried fruits if using. 
  11.  Cook for another 15–20 minutes until the sauce thickens. 
  12.  Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot.
