Vegan Dumplings
Vegan Dumplings are a delicious and comforting plant-based version of the traditional dumpling, filled with flavorful vegetables, mushrooms, and aromatic seasonings wrapped in soft homemade or ready-made dumpling wrappers. These bite-sized treats are perfect as an appetizer, snack, or main meal and are enjoyed across many cuisines, especially Asian-inspired cooking.
The filling combines finely chopped vegetables such as cabbage, carrots, mushrooms, and spring onions with garlic, ginger, and soy sauce to create a rich umami flavor. When steamed, pan-fried, or boiled, vegan dumplings develop a tender texture with a delicious balance of savory filling and delicate wrapper. Pan-frying creates a golden, crispy bottom while keeping the top soft and juicy.
These dumplings are naturally dairy-free and can easily be customized with different vegetables, tofu, or plant-based proteins. Served with a spicy chili sauce, soy dipping sauce, or sesame dressing, they make a perfect choice for family gatherings, parties, or quick weekday meals.
Easy to prepare and packed with wholesome ingredients, Vegan Dumplings prove that plant-based food can be flavorful, satisfying, and enjoyable. Whether you are vegan or simply looking to add more vegetables to your diet, these homemade dumplings are a tasty and versatile addition to any menu.
Cooking Method
Prepare the filling by heating sesame oil in a pan over medium heat.
Add garlic and ginger, then sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
Add mushrooms, cabbage, and carrots. Cook for 5–7 minutes until the vegetables soften.
Stir in soy sauce, salt, pepper, and spring onions. Allow the filling to cool.
Place a dumpling wrapper on a flat surface and add 1 tablespoon of filling in the center.
Wet the edges with water, fold the wrapper, and seal by pressing the edges together.
Repeat until all wrappers and filling are used.
Steam the dumplings for 10–12 minutes until tender.
For crispy dumplings, pan-fry them in a little oil for 3–5 minutes until golden on the bottom, then add a splash of water and cover to cook through.
Serve hot with soy sauce, chili oil, or your favorite dipping sauce.
