 Sinangag, also known as Filipino Garlic Fried Rice, is a classic breakfast staple made with day-old rice, golden crispy garlic, and simple seasonings. This fragrant and flavorful side dish is commonly served with eggs, cured meats, grilled fish, or other traditional Filipino breakfast favorites. It's quick to prepare and a delicious way to transform leftover rice into a satisfying meal. 

Cooking Method

 

  1. Break apart any clumps in the cold, day-old rice using your hands or a fork.
  2.  Heat the cooking oil in a large skillet or wok over medium heat. 
  3.  Add the minced garlic and cook until golden brown and crispy. Remove half of the garlic and set it aside for garnish. 
  4.  Add the butter (if using) and stir until melted. 
  5.  Add the rice to the pan and stir-fry, mixing well with the garlic. 
  6.  Season with salt and black pepper, stirring continuously until the rice is heated through and evenly coated. 
  7.  Garnish with the reserved crispy garlic and chopped spring onions. Serve hot with eggs, grilled meats, or fish.
