Season the chicken with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, cumin, salt, and black pepper.
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat and sear the chicken for 3–4 minutes per side until lightly browned.
Pour the salsa over the chicken, cover the skillet, and reduce the heat to low.
Simmer for 15–20 minutes, or until the chicken is fully cooked and reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
Sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly over the chicken. Cover again and cook for 2–3 minutes, until the cheese is melted.
Garnish with chopped cilantro and serve with lime wedges if desired.
