  3. Grill the mochi – Place mochi on the grill or pan. Cook each side for 2–3 minutes until golden brown and slightly puffed.
  4. Optional seasoning – Brush with soy sauce or sprinkle sugar for a sweet-savory flavor. For traditional Yakimochi, wrap grilled mochi with a strip of nori.
  5. Serve hot – Serve immediately while warm and chewy.
