Cajun Fries Recipe | Crispy Spicy Cajun-Seasoned French Fries

Cajun Fries are crispy, golden French fries coated in a bold blend of Cajun spices, paprika, garlic, onion, and herbs. These flavorful fries have crunchy edges, fluffy centers, and a deliciously spicy and smoky seasoning that makes them far more exciting than ordinary fries. Easy to prepare in the oven or air fryer, Cajun Fries are perfect alongside burgers, fried chicken, grilled meats, sandwiches, or as a satisfying appetizer and snack. Serve them with ranch, spicy mayo, or a creamy Cajun dipping sauce for an irresistible homemade side.

Cooking Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Wash and scrub the potatoes, then cut them into evenly sized fries.
  3. Soak the fries in cold water for 20–30 minutes to remove excess starch and help them become crispier.
  4. Drain the potatoes and pat them completely dry with clean kitchen towels or paper towels.
  5. In a large bowl, combine the oil, Cajun seasoning, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, thyme, salt, and black pepper.
  6. Add the potatoes and toss thoroughly until every fry is evenly coated.
  7. Arrange the fries in a single layer on the baking sheet, leaving space between them.
  8. Bake for 25–30 minutes, turning halfway through cooking.
  9. Increase the oven temperature to 450°F (230°C) and bake for another 5–8 minutes, until deeply golden and crisp.
  10. Taste and sprinkle with a little extra Cajun seasoning or chopped parsley if desired.
  11. Serve immediately with ranch, spicy mayonnaise, Cajun sauce, or ketchup.
