Affogato is a classic Italian coffee dessert that combines the bold richness of freshly brewed espresso with the creamy sweetness of vanilla ice cream or gelato. The word affogato means "drowned" in Italian, referring to the scoop of ice cream being "drowned" in hot espresso. The contrast between the hot coffee and the cold, creamy ice cream creates an indulgent dessert that's both refreshing and satisfying.
Perfect as an after-dinner treat, afternoon dessert, or special coffee indulgence, Affogato is incredibly easy to prepare in just a few minutes. For extra flavor, it can be topped with chocolate shavings, cocoa powder, crushed nuts, or a drizzle of caramel or chocolate sauce.
