Inari Sushi is a popular Japanese dish made with seasoned sushi rice stuffed inside sweet and savory fried tofu pockets called “inari-age.” This simple yet delicious sushi is loved for its soft texture, slightly sweet flavor, and easy preparation. It is often enjoyed as a snack, lunch, or part of a sushi platter. 

The tofu pockets are simmered in a light sauce made from soy sauce, sugar, and mirin, giving them a sweet and umami-rich taste. They are then gently filled with seasoned sushi rice, creating a perfect balance of soft, sweet, and tangy flavors. Sometimes sesame seeds or vegetables are added for extra taste and texture. 

Inari Sushi is perfect for picnics, lunchboxes, or light meals. It is vegetarian-friendly, easy to make, and very satisfying. 

Simple, flavorful, and comforting, Inari Sushi is a classic Japanese favorite that is both convenient and delicious. 

Cooking Method


  1.  Mix cooked rice with rice vinegar and sugar. Let it cool. 
  2.  In a pan, combine soy sauce, sugar, and mirin/water. 
  3.  Add tofu pockets and simmer for 5–7 minutes. 
  4.  Let tofu cool and gently squeeze out excess liquid. 
  5.  Fill each tofu pocket with sushi rice. 
  6.  Fold to close the top. 
  7.  Sprinkle sesame seeds if desired. 
  8.  Serve fresh.
