Kreplach are traditional Jewish dumplings made with tender pasta dough and a savory filling of seasoned ground beef, onions, and herbs. Often served in chicken soup, these comforting dumplings are especially associated with Jewish holidays and family gatherings. The delicate wrappers and flavorful meat filling make Kreplach a delicious appetizer, side dish, or comforting main meal.

  1. Combine the flour, eggs, water, and salt. Knead for 8–10 minutes until a smooth dough forms.
  2. Cover and let the dough rest for 20 minutes.
  3. Heat the oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and cook until softened.
  4. Add the garlic and ground beef. Cook until the beef is fully browned.
  5. Stir in the parsley, salt, and black pepper. Let the filling cool.
  6. Roll the dough into a very thin sheet and cut it into small squares.
  7. Place about 1 teaspoon of filling in the center of each square.
  8. Fold the dough over the filling to form a triangle and press the edges firmly to seal.
  9. Bring a large pot of salted water to a gentle boil.
  10. Cook the Kreplach in batches for 4–6 minutes, until the dough is tender and the dumplings float.
  11. Warm the chicken soup in a separate pot.
  12. Transfer the cooked Kreplach into bowls and pour the hot chicken soup over them.
  13. Garnish with fresh dill or parsley and serve immediately.
