Cream Cheese Cinnamon Rolls are soft, fluffy, and irresistibly comforting sweet rolls filled with buttery cinnamon sugar and topped with a rich, creamy cream cheese frosting. The homemade yeast dough rises until light and tender, then is rolled out and generously spread with butter, brown sugar, and fragrant ground cinnamon. As the rolls bake, the filling melts into the soft layers, creating a warm, gooey center and a beautifully golden top.
Finished with a smooth cream cheese frosting that melts slightly over the warm rolls, these cinnamon rolls offer the perfect combination of sweet, buttery, tangy, and warmly spiced flavors. They are wonderful for breakfast, brunch, afternoon treats, holiday gatherings, or special family occasions. Serve them warm with coffee, tea, or a glass of milk for an especially delicious homemade bakery-style treat.
Cooking Method
- Combine the warm milk, yeast, and sugar in a large bowl. Let stand for 5–10 minutes until slightly foamy.
- Add the egg, melted butter, and salt. Gradually add the flour and mix until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Cover and let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Roll the dough into a large rectangle on a lightly floured surface.
- Spread the softened butter evenly over the dough.
- Mix the brown sugar and cinnamon, then sprinkle evenly over the butter.
- Roll the dough tightly from one long side into a log.
- Cut the log into 12 equal rolls and arrange them in a greased baking dish.
- Cover and let the rolls rest for 20–30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake for 22–28 minutes, until lightly golden and cooked through.
- Meanwhile, beat the cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth. Add milk gradually until the frosting reaches your preferred consistency.
- Spread the cream cheese frosting over the warm cinnamon rolls.
- Serve warm and enjoy.
