Cream Horns | Flaky Pastry with Sweet Cream Filling

0 likes 0 reviews 2 views

Cream Horns are elegant pastries made with crisp, golden layers of buttery puff pastry wrapped around cone-shaped molds and filled with a smooth, sweet cream. Each pastry has a wonderfully flaky exterior and a light, creamy center, making it a beautiful and delicious treat for dessert tables and afternoon tea.

The puff pastry is cut into strips and wrapped around cream horn molds before being baked until golden and crisp. Once cooled, the pastry shells are filled with vanilla whipped cream or pastry cream and finished with a dusting of powdered sugar.

These classic pastries are perfect for celebrations, holidays, afternoon tea, bake sales, or whenever you want an impressive bakery-style dessert made at home.

Cooking Method

  1.  Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C)
  2.  Lightly grease cream horn molds with butter.
  3.  Roll the puff pastry slightly to smooth it out.
  4.  Cut the pastry into long strips about ½ inch wide
  5.  Wrap each strip around a cream horn mold, slightly overlapping the edges.
  6.  Brush the pastry lightly with melted butter.
  7.  Roll or sprinkle the pastry with granulated sugar.
  8.  Place the molds on a parchment-lined baking tray.
  9.  Bake for 15–20 minutes, until puffed and golden.
  10.  Allow the pastry shells to cool for a few minutes.
  11.  Carefully remove the molds while the pastry is still slightly warm.
  12.  Let the shells cool completely.
  13.  Whip the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla until stiff peaks form.
  14.  Transfer the cream to a piping bag.
  15.  Pipe the cream into each cooled pastry shell.
  16.  Dust with powdered sugar.
  17.  Serve immediately or refrigerate until ready to serve.
