Garlic Butter Rice is a simple yet incredibly flavorful rice dish made with fluffy cooked rice, rich butter, fresh garlic, and aromatic herbs. It is an easy side dish that transforms everyday rice into something delicious, fragrant, and satisfying.
The combination of golden butter and freshly minced garlic creates a rich savory base, while chicken or vegetable broth adds extra depth of flavor. A little parsley and black pepper provide a fresh finishing touch without overpowering the buttery garlic flavor.
This versatile rice pairs beautifully with grilled chicken, steak, seafood, roasted vegetables, or curries. It is quick enough for a busy weeknight dinner but flavorful enough to serve at family gatherings and special meals.
Cooking Method
- Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs mostly clear.
- Heat olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Add the rice and toast for 2–3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Pour in the broth and add salt and black pepper.
- Bring the mixture to a gentle boil.
- Reduce the heat to low and cover with a tight-fitting lid.
- Cook for 15–18 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the liquid has been absorbed.
- Remove from the heat and let it rest, covered, for 5 minutes.
- Fluff the rice gently with a fork.
- Stir in the remaining butter and fresh parsley.
- Serve warm alongside your favorite main dish.
